POLLEN ANALYSIS AT THE MINI-MOON SITE (24DW85)

Pollen analysis was conducted at 24 DW85, the Mini-Moon Site, in eastern
Montana. Ten pollen samples were collected from the present ground surface
and five separate excavation areas at this site. Deflated hearths, midden
areas, and activity areas were all sampled for their pollen content. Radiocarbon
ages obtained from this site varied from 2160 BP to 1520 BP. The
Besant occupation of this site left considerable quantities of bone and
lithic debris. This pollen study was undertaken to establish the feasibility
of recovering pollen in this area, as well as to assess the subsistence
base reflected in the pollen record for the Besant occupants of the site.

本研究针对美国蒙大拿州东部的迷你月球遗址（Mini-Moon Site）24 DW85点位开展花粉分析。本次共采集10份花粉样品，采样覆盖遗址现代表面与5个独立发掘区域，对遗址内的风蚀火塘、垃圾堆积区及活动遗迹区均开展了花粉采样。该遗址获取的碳十四测年结果介于2160 BP至1520 BP之间。该遗址的贝桑特（Besant）文化遗存遗留有大量骨骼与石制碎屑。本次花粉研究旨在验证该区域花粉遗存的提取可行性，同时通过花粉记录评估该遗址贝桑特文化先民的生存基底。
