Echinochaete brachypora (Mont.) Ryvarden (Polyporaceae, Basidiomycota), a wood-inhabiting fungus new to India.

Echinochaete brachypora, belonging to the family Polyporaceae, is characterised by poroid basidiocarps and the presence of distinctive setoid structures. The specimens were identified based on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics, including angular pores, absence of setoid cystidia on the pileus surface, and presence of cylindrical basidiospores. Morphological examination, along with phylogenetic analyses of ITS and LSU regions, confirmed the specimens as Echinochaete brachypora, representing the first record of the species from India.
