Leaves were harvested from two locations on each tree, placed in sealed plastic bags and kept on ice for return to the laboratory. Foliage samples were stored at - 20 ° C until required. Leaves were assayed for monoterpenes using gas chromatography as outlined in Edwards et al. (1993).
