WINTRE-MIX: NRC Convair 580 Airborne X-Band (NAX) Radar Data and Imagery. Version 1.0

NRC Convair 580 Airborne X-Band (NAX) Radar Data and Imagery are included in this dataset. This dataset was collected during the Wintre Precipitation Type Research Multi-scale Experiment (WINTRE-MIX) field project between February and March 2022 using an airborne X-band (NAX) 9.41 GHz radar. The NAX radar antenna subsystem was housed inside an un-pressurized blister radome on the aircraft fuselage. In normal opertional mode, these radar data are available at nadir, zenith and side antennas. When flying at low altitude, the nadir antennas are terminated to avoid damaging RF components. For WINTRE-MIX, the radar has a dedicated multiple Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) system installed at the radar rack. Both data and imagery are provided in a single zip file per flight.

本数据集包含NRC Convair 580机载X波段（NAX）雷达数据与影像资料。该数据集采集于2022年2月至3月开展的Wintre降水类型研究多尺度野外试验（WINTRE-MIX）期间，所用设备为工作频率9.41 GHz的机载X波段（NAX）雷达。NAX雷达天线子系统安装于机身外部的未加压鼓形雷达罩内。在常规运行模式下，该雷达可通过天底、天顶及侧方天线获取雷达数据。低空飞行时，天底天线会被停用，以避免损坏射频（Radio Frequency, RF）组件。针对本次WINTRE-MIX试验，该雷达在雷达机架处加装了专用的多惯性测量单元（Inertial Measurement Unit, IMU）系统。每次飞行的全部数据与影像均打包为单个zip压缩文件对外提供。
