Patricia Bay Current Meter Deployed 2012-02-26

The Nortek Aquadopp Current Meter 1176 was deployed on 2012-02-26 at Patricia Bay. Patricia Bay is located in the Saanich Inlet, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. This device is a Current Meter. Acoustic Current Meters (ACM) measure current speed and direction, using the Doppler Effect. Aquadopp current meters have a sensor head that contains 3 acoustic transducers, a tilt sensor, a temperature sensor and a pressure sensor. The instrument transmits a short pulse of sound, and then listens to its echo to measure the change in pitch or frequency. The change in pitch can determine the velocity of the current. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.

Nortek Aquadopp 1176型海流计于2012年2月26日在帕特里夏湾完成部署。帕特里夏湾坐落于温哥华岛南端的萨尼奇湾内。该设备属于海流计类设备，声学海流计（Acoustic Current Meters, ACM）依托多普勒效应测量海流的流速与流向。Aquadopp系列海流计的传感器探头集成3个声学换能器、倾角传感器、温度传感器及压力传感器。本仪器通过发射短脉冲声波，随后监听回波以检测音高或频率的变化，基于音高变化即可推算海流流速。本次部署采用固定平台搭载方式。本批次采集数据已完成归档，并通过加拿大海洋网络（Ocean Networks Canada）的Oceans 3.0数字基础设施对外开放，且按照既定行业规范完成了质量保证流程与衍生数据产品的生成。
