Species composition of synanthropic flies captured using fish offal and sugar-vinegar solution across seven zoogeographic regions of China

This dataset presents the results of a nationwide surveillance of synanthropic flies conducted in 2021 across seven cities representing China’s seven zoogeographic regions. Standard CDC-style fly traps were deployed with two bait types—fish offal and sugar-vinegar solution—in parallel. A total of 2,132 fly specimens were collected and identified to species level (21 species). The data are structured as a city-by-species abundance matrix and can be used for studies on vector distribution, bait efficacy evaluation, and public health risk modeling. Species identification followed Fan (1992), Key to the Common Flies of China.
