On 29 september 2014, we work in group of four in York University grassland and woodlot to Sample insects species in the area. The way of doing this is by using a sweep net and the transect sampling method. A belt transect approach is used and all insects are swept within a certain area along a transect within two different habitats. The transect is randomly placed at 10 different spots at each habitat, and for every transect, we walk 25 metres and keep waving the weep net when walking. After 25 metres’ walk, the insects captured are identified and counted by eye. Four variables are recorded during the research: insect species name, number of each species captured, total number of unique rtus, and total number of insects captured.(variables are described and explained in the meta-data table)

2014年9月29日,我们四人一组在约克大学(York University)的草原与林地开展野外工作,对该区域的昆虫物种进行采样。本次采样采用扫网法(sweep net)与样带采样法(transect sampling method),具体使用带状样带法(belt transect approach):在两种不同生境中,沿样带的划定区域内扫捕所有昆虫。每个生境随机布设10个样带点位;每条样带需行走25米,行进过程中持续挥动扫网。完成25米行进后,对捕获的昆虫进行目视识别与计数。本次研究共记录四类变量:昆虫物种名称、各物种捕获数量、唯一rtus总数量以及总捕获昆虫数量,变量的详细说明与解释见元数据表(meta-data table)。
