Kaikōura Peninsula shore platform Micro-Erosion Meter (MEM) dataset (2017–2024), New Zealand
收藏资源简介:
Overview This dataset contains Micro-Erosion Meter (MEM) measurements collected from rocky shore platforms on the Kaikōura Peninsula, South Island, New Zealand, between 2017 and 2024 following the 2016 Mw 7.8 Kaikōura earthquake. The dataset supports analysis of post-seismic shore platform downwearing, lithological variability, and spatial patterns of rock coast surface lowering. Data Description KM Profiles (KM1–KM7) Bolt Sites (MEM benchmark locations) Time (repeated measurements) Variables KM_Profiles: Shore platform profile identifier (KM1–KM7) Bolt_Sites: MEM bolt-site identifier Date: Measurement acquisition date Erosion.Rates: Surface downwearing/erosion rate (mm/yr) Methods Summary Measurements were obtained using a Micro-Erosion Meter (MEM) following standard field protocols. Repeated measurements were conducted at permanently fixed bolt locations installed across shore platform surfaces to quantify millimetre-scale changes in rock surface elevation through time. Usage Notes Positive values indicate surface lowering (erosion/downwearing). Negative values indicate accretion or upward surface change. Data are suitable for time-series analysis and comparison with geodetic observations of coastal surface displacement. Missing values are present and should be handled appropriately.
