Factors associated with depression in institutionalized elders: integrative review

This integrative literature review aimed to assess the scientific knowledge related to factors significantly associated with depressive symptoms in elderly residents in long-stay institutions. The databases Lilacs, Medline and Ibecs were consulted from 2002 to 2012, which provided a twenty articles sample that allowed us to identify six main groups of factors associated with depression among institutionalized elders: sociodemographic, health status, functional ability, behavior, cognition and drugs. It is expected that the results of this review may contribute to the debate on health practices for older people living in institutional ambience.

本整合性文献综述（integrative literature review）旨在评估与长期照护机构老年居民抑郁症状显著相关的各类影响因素的科学研究证据。研究于2002年至2012年间检索了Lilacs、Medline及Ibecs数据库，最终纳入20篇文献作为分析样本，据此明确了机构养老老年人抑郁相关的六大类影响因素：社会人口学因素、健康状况、功能能力、行为特征、认知状态与用药情况。本综述预期其研究结果可为机构养老老年群体的健康照护实践相关学术讨论提供参考依据。
