Bioenergetic Data for Seabird Chicks and Adults

The datasets include bioenergetic data for seabirds across multiple life-cycle stages and phases of the annual cycle. We extracted data and compiled a dataset of empirical measurements of daily energy expenditure and body condition for each seabird life stage using mean measurements both within populations and time of measurement. We included only empirical studies that measured field metabolic rates of free-ranging individuals using the doubly-labeled water method (DLW) or activity loggers (time-depth and heart rate recorders) expressed as a rate of daily energetic expenditure. We related these energetic components to widely available general predictors to generate predictions for percent body fat, lipid mass, and daily energy rates for any seabird species and/ or phase of the annual cycle.

本数据集涵盖海鸟多个生命周期阶段及年度周期各阶段的生物能学数据。我们通过整合种群内部及测量时段的平均测量值，提取并汇编了覆盖各海鸟生命周期阶段的每日能量消耗与身体状况实测数据集。本数据集仅纳入采用双标水法（doubly-labeled water method, DLW）或活动记录仪（含时间深度记录仪与心率记录仪）对自由活动个体的野外代谢率进行测量，且结果以每日能量消耗速率形式呈现的实证研究。我们将上述能量相关指标与公开可得的通用预测因子建立关联，进而可针对任意海鸟物种及/或年度周期阶段，预测其体脂百分比、脂质质量与每日能量消耗速率。
