NRS-15274 | Reports of management inspection tours

This series comprises the records of tours of inspection conducted by the Railway Commissioners of New South Wales (later the Public Transport Commissioners and then State Rail Authority Board Members and Senior Management Executives). Railway division chiefs and district superintendents accompanied these office holders. The inspections covered railway line improvements or current operating problems with the tour group meeting local representatives (petitioners). The Commissioner's explanations to the local groups concerning railway business trends or service changes plus promises for action are also recorded. In some cases the inspection reports are accompanied by a list detailing official functions, an itinerary, schedules of remedial work to be done, special train notices, and inspection train timetables. 'Indexes to Management Inspection Tours', 1980-1987 assist with identification of a report during these years. A Report may be traced via the date a particular station or location was visited.Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R60. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R60 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管历史：
1955年至2000年期间，新南威尔士州铁路管理局设有内部档案馆，馆藏涵盖该局、其前身机构及政府接管的私营铁路公司的档案记录，档案时间跨度为1849年至2000年。在关闭“州铁路档案馆”的决议作出后，符合州档案馆藏要求的藏品被移交至新南威尔士州档案管理局。该批档案系列被纳入州档案管理体系，并重新赋予编号。
