Eukaryotes play crucial roles in biogenic element cycle and energy flow in marine ecosystems. However, little is known about their diversity and community composition in the north South China Sea (NSCS), and study on their metabolic activities in this area is even rare. Based on the DNA and RNA high throughput sequencing, our results revealed that eukaryotes in NSCS were highly diverse.
