The data consists of a zip file, which is about 2.2 GB in size. When unzipped, the data contains two folders: 20221216_wq_s1_1.86um_tiff and 20221216_wq_s2_1.45um_tiff, which in turn contain microCT data of two early Cambrian (Fortunian Age) archaeocyath fossils, UMCU 24XX021601 (holotype of Primocyathus uniseriatus) and UMCU 24XX082401 (holotype of Sinocyathus biseriatus), respectively. The first folder (20221216_wq_s1_1.86um_tiff) contains 999 tiff files, each about 2 MB in size. The second folder (20221216_wq_s2_1.45um_tiff) contains 997 tiff files, each about 2 MB in size.The fossils were scanned on a ZEISS Xradia 520 Versa scanner at Northwest University, Xi'an, China. Scanning parameters for the holotype of Primocyathus uniseriatus are as follows: X-ray tube voltage (50 kV), X-ray tube power (4 W), X-ray tube current (80 μA), Exposure time (2.0 s), Source-to-sample distance (8.2 mm), Detector-to-sample distance (21.5 mm), Optical Magnification (4×), Number of projections (2601), Pixel size (1.9 μm), Image size (988 × 1013). Scanning parameters for the holotype of Sinocyathus biseriatus are as follows: X-ray tube voltage (50 kV), X-ray tube power (4 W), X-ray tube current (80 μA), Exposure time (2.0 s), Source-to-sample distance (7.8 mm), Detector-to-sample distance (28.5 mm), Optical Magnification (4×), Number of projections (2601), Pixel size (1.5 μm), Image size (984 × 1013).The fossils are reposited in the University Museum of Chang’an University (UMCU).
