The collection and use of wood in the Central Pyrenees from the Mesolithic to the High Middle Ages (9th millennium cal ANE- XIII century). Contributions from anthracology

This project aims to conduct a diachronic study of wood fuel collection and use strategies on the southern slopes of the Central Pyrenees, primarily answering three questions: which species were used, where were they collected, and why those species? The project has involved the analysis of anthracological remains
from 20 new sites, as well as the integration of the results into a homogeneous database together with the information available for the same area. The project seeks to understand the relationships that human groups established with their environment in their daily lives, which is why only habitat contexts have been selected. For the interpretation of the data, GIS tools and statistical analyses have been used in an exploratory manner with the aim of establishing relationships between the anthracological information and the geographical information.
