P__vivax_SNP_barcode_for_mapping_transmission_and_drug_resistance

The proposed study is a multi-center collaborative study with several tiers. The overarching goal is to facilitate P. vivax control and elimination using genome-wide tools to identify informative markers for large-scale targeted genotyping by PCR. Informative markers are defined as those providing insights to facilitate P. vivax control and elimination including markers of drug resistance, transmission and spread, and are collectively referred to here as a “barcode”. Briefly, these markers will be identified through several separate genome-wide studies. Where possible, a selection of at least 30 WGS quality samples will be collected from each population to ensure adequate representation of the variation in that population. The barcode variants, in contrast, are intended for genotyping at high sample throughput (in the order of hundreds of samples) on a platform with sensitivity and specificity on a broad range of sample sources including DNA derived from blood spots on filter papers.
