High-throughput sequencing of 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes was performed to investigate the dynamic variations in benthic bacterial community composition, func-tion, and stability caused by B. purificata, assess the relationships between benthic bac-terial communities and environmental factors, and explore the ecological processes shaping the assembly of benthic bacterial communities. The purpose of our research was to determine the effect of B. purificata cultivation on the dynamics and assembly of bacterial communities in sediments. In addition, we hope that the findings will provide a theoretical reference for the optimization of IMTA and improve management strate-gies for B. purificata polyculture.
