Samples originate from flow cells with porous solids exposed to flowing groundwater from 400 to 450 m depth in the ONKALO underground research tunnel in Olkiluoto, Finland. These samples were initially submitted and sequenced within our former CoDL project, PRJNA246527. Marker gene sequencing results revealed communities of microorganisms with a large representation of sulphate-reducing Desulfobacula, sulphur-reducing Desulfuromonas, di-sulphide-, sulphur- and thiosulphate-disproprotionating Desulfurivibrio and Desulfocapsa, sulphur-oxidizing Theromplasmathales and anaerobic CH 4 oxidizing Methanosacrinales-ANME-2 microorganisms.
