Data and R code for the study on biomass production in Cantabrian Mountain assemblages (Spain, Europe)

The repository contains the dataset and R code for the study "Leaf trait variation as a context dependent modulator of Biodiversity–Biomass production relationships". This database contains: (1) traits.csv, individual measurements of functional traits collected from plant species across the Cantabrian Mountains in north-western Spain in 2023-2025, including specific leaf area (SLA; mm²/mg) and leaf area (LA; mm²); (2) plots.csv, geographical characteristics and vascular-plant species richness of the permanent plots; (3) inventories.csv, the vascular-plant species inventories conducted within the permanent plots, where each row represents the occurrence of one species in a particular sampling unit; and (4) fluxes.csv, carbon-flux estimates summarized by plot, year and flux type. The database was generated as part of field sampling conducted within research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science (PRE2021-100978) and Innovation and the Spanish Research Agency (PID2020-115259GB-I00 and PID2024-155250NB-I00). The repository also includes an R script (code.rmd) documenting the processing and analyses of the data. A README file provides a description of each file (README.txt).
