Occurrence and morphometric analysis of sorted bedforms on the Alentejo continental shelf, Southwestern Portugal

Dataset OverviewThis dataset contains high-resolution marine geophysical and sedimentological data acquired between. 2016 and 2019, within the framework of the MINEPLAT project (ALT20-03-0145-FEDER-000013), focusing on the assessment of mineral resource potential and morphodynamics of the Alentejo continental shelf, Portugal. Coordinate Reference System (CRS): All spatial and geographic products in this dataset are projected in WGS 84 / UTM zone 29N (EPSG:32629). File Inventory and Content Description: Seismic Reflection Data (.sgy): FAST_MP1_L21.sgy and FAST_MP2_L04.sgy: Ultra-High-Resolution Seismic (UHRS) 2D multichannel profiles. Bathymetric Data (.tif, .tfw): MP1_MP2_5M_Bathymetry_2026.tif and associated world file .tfw: Digital Elevation Model (DEM) representing the seafloor topography with a 5-meter spatial resolution. Sado_5M_Bathymetry_INSET.tif and Sines_5M_Bathymetry_INSET.tif: Digital Elevation Model (DEM) insets from Sado and Sines sectors representing the seafloor topography with a 5-meter spatial resolution. Acoustic Backscatter Data (.asc): MP1_2M_Backscatter_2026.asc and MP2_MP4_2M_Backscatter_2026.asc: High-resolution (2-meter spatial resolution) seafloor backscatter intensity gridded data in ASCII format. Sedimentological and Morphological Geopackages (.gpkg): Sediment_samples.gpkg: Spatial database containing information regarding the location of physical sediment samples collected. sorted_bedforms_Sines_area.gpkg and sorted_bedforms_Sado_area.gpkg: Vectorized spatial datasets identifying and delineating sorted bedforms and bedform distribution across the Alentejo and Sado shelf sectors.
