Morphological traits in lichen epiphyte communities and associated environmental data, NC USA, 2012-2014

This data was collected for a project examining the spatial scales over which lichen epiphyte diversity and traits vary as well as environmental factors that covary with community functional structure. Morphological traits of lichen epiphytes were recorded for each distinct morphospecies in 9 x 9 cm quadrats on tree trunks across nineteen forested plots in North Carolina, USA. Data on bark properties where lichens were observed, tree characteristics, and plot-level environmental data were also collected.
