<p>Previous experiments in this dataset have incubated FeOB with zero-valent iron as an iron source. Zero-valent iron is relatively rare in natural environments, however. Mariprofundus ferrooxydans PV-1 and Ghiorsea bivora TAG-1 were therefore grown on pyrrhotite powder at 20°C to examine how they affect oxidation rates of natural iron minerals. Oxygen was measured as a proxy for iron oxidation. M. ferrooxydans PV-1 decreased net iron oxidation rates, while G. bivora TAG-1 increased net iron oxidation rates.</p>
本数据集此前的实验以零价铁(zero-valent iron)作为铁源对铁氧化细菌(FeOB)进行了富集培养。但零价铁在自然环境中相对稀缺。为此,研究团队在20℃条件下以磁黄铁矿(pyrrhotite)粉末为铁源,培养Mariprofundus ferrooxydans PV-1与Ghiorsea bivora TAG-1两株铁氧化细菌,以探究二者对天然铁矿物氧化速率的影响。实验以氧气浓度作为铁氧化过程的替代检测指标,结果显示:Mariprofundus ferrooxydans PV-1会降低净铁氧化速率,而Ghiorsea bivora TAG-1则可提升净铁氧化速率。
