Supplemental File for Research Letter on the association between psoriasis and risk of dementia published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. Psoriatic inflammation and associated vascular disease could predispose patients to dementia. Several observational studies have examined the association between psoriasis and dementia, with conflicting findings. The aim of this systematic review is to examine the prevalence or incidence of dementia in adults with psoriasis, compared to adults without psoriasis in a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies. We searched MEDLINE and Embase databases up to January 2020 with no lower limit on year of publication. We performed title and abstract, full text screening, and data extraction in pairs. We used random effects meta-analysis to calculate pooled hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for the association between psoriasis and dementia. Our search yielded 928 studies of which we included 8 for narrative synthesis and 4 in meta-analysis. Psoriasis was non-significantly associated with dementia overall (HR 1.18, 95% CI, 0.93-1.50), with a stronger association seen with vascular dementia (HR 1.43, 95% CI, 1.35-1.53) than dementia of the Alzheimer type (HR 1.08, 95% CI, 1.01-1.16). Psoriasis may be associated with an increased risk for vascular dementia, more than other forms of dementia.
发表于《美国皮肤病学会杂志》(Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology)的关于银屑病(psoriasis)与痴呆(dementia)风险相关性研究快报的补充材料。
