A simple device for preparing a drywall butt joint includes a wheel with beveled surfaces or an end taper. When the device makes contact with protruding， rough edges of a drywall butt joint and/or debris surrounding the butt joint the force applied by the device eliminates the protruding， drywall edges and debris.
