The genome of Acidiphilium sp. C61 to reconstruct its' metabolic potential for aggregation response to chemical mediator 2-phenethylamine.

Iron snow is iron-rich pelagic aggregates which is a hot spot for microbial communication. More than 50% of microbial community was dominanted by iron-oxidizing and reducing bacteria (FeOB,FeRB).Previous study successfully isolated representatives of FeOB (Acidithrix sp. C25) and FeRB (Acidithrix sp. C61) and identifiedchemical mediator:2-Phenethylamine (PEA) produced by FeOB to induce aggregation of Acidiphilium sp. C61.In this study, we apply genomics to illustrate the ecological function of Acidiphilium sp. C61.
