T-Series Transparencies: NASA Stardust Traces T5, T32/69, T35, T80, T191
This dataset comprises five digital transparencies derived from NASA's Cosmic Dust Catalogs, corresponding to stardust traces T5, T32/69, T35, T80 and T191 collected during NASA's Stardust mission (1999–2006). The images were prepared as large-format transparencies for use in the production of the T-Series cyanotypes, functioning as the intermediate material between NASA's archival source images and the finished silk prints.
Each positive was scaled and formatted for contact printing at 280 × 114 cm, cropped and adjusted to suit the dimensions of a bespoke vacuum frame used for UV exposure onto white Habotai silk. In this sense the positives are not reproductions of the NASA source images but working documents, shaped by the practical demands of the printing process they were made to serve.
The dataset was produced as part of the practice-led research project We Are Supernova (MSCA Fellowship, Goldsmiths University of London).
