Stellar X-ary Emissivity in Early-type Galaxies: The Local Group Census

We propose deep XMMNewton observations for three dwarf elliptical galaxies,NGC147, NGC185, and NGC205, in the Local Group, in order to measure and quantifythe dispersion of the collective Xray emissivity from old stellar populations.Precise knowledge of this kind is crucial not only for understanding ther^ant stellar astrophysics but also for reliably disentangling andquantifying the thermal emission from diffuse hot gas in nearby galaxies.
