unusual even-numbered bromination of triptycene tristhiadiazole
is described, giving selectively dibromo-, tetrabromo-, and hexabromotriptycenes
with two bromines each at the same phenyl ring. The new compounds
can be used as precursors for extended π-conjugated systems
and polymers.
