This PhD study is dedicated to the advancement of construction temporary works arena utilizing state of the art materials and design techniques. This research area has been neglected by structural engineers since temporary works are used through a very short part of structures’ lifespan, yet they are as important as permanent structural elements. In this study, world leading axial temporary load bearing elements (props) have been developed. The developed propping systems are up to 3 times stronger than existing ones for the same unit weight. Hence, they will reduce construction costs and carbon footprint while considerably increasing the safety.
