Synergistic GPM Satellite and Buoy Match-up Datasets for Maximum Wave Height Retrieval (2016–2021)

This dataset contains two comma-separated values (CSV) files that provide the core match-up records used to develop and validate a novel dynamic correction method for retrieving ocean maximum wave height (MWH) from synergistic Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) satellite observations. The data were generated by collocating: Satellite Data: GPM Microwave Imager (GMI) 10.65 GHz brightness temperature and Dual-frequency Precipitation Radar (DPR) Ku-band backscatter. Reanalysis Data: ERA5 hourly significant wave height (SWH) and maximum wave height (MWH). In Situ Data: Wave records from the DeepLev mooring station (modeling) and seven Chinese coastal buoys (validation).Spatiotemporal matching windows of 3 min/10 km (GMI-DPR) and 1 h/25 km (satellite-ERA5-buoy) were applied to ensure observational consistency.
