The present study on a sand-watt station located at a Norderney watt station examines how many samples are required for a representative determination of abundance and biomass of soil fauna. First, an empirical approach showed that reliable abundance values of individual species are achieved with very different sample numbers. The main goal of this study refers to the question as to how many samples are required to obtain representative figures of abundance and biomass of benthic organisms. At first, empirical approach resulted in quite different numbers of samples which are necessary for different species as well as for total abundance and total biomass. It is quite evident that the distribution pattern of the individual species plays an important role in this method.

本研究以位于诺德尼岛(Norderney)潮滩的沙质潮滩站点(sand-watt station)为研究载体,旨在探明土壤动物(soil fauna)丰度与生物量的代表性测定所需的样本量。 首先,实证分析表明,获取单个物种可靠丰度数值所需的样本量存在显著差异。 本研究的核心目标为解答:获取底栖生物(benthic organisms)丰度与生物量的代表性数据,究竟需要多少样本量。后续实证分析进一步显示,针对不同物种、总丰度及总生物量的测定,所需的最优样本量均各不相同。显而易见,单个物种的分布格局对该测定方法的样本量规划具有关键影响。
