Mount Helmcken Automatic Identification Systems Receiver Deployed 2016-01-01

The Coastguard AIS MMSI 003160094 was deployed on 2016-01-01 at Mount Helmcken. Mount Helmcken is a mountain on the southern part of Vancouver Island located between Sooke and Langford. This device is a Automatic Identification Systems Receiver. Land-based Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers provide data that track marine vessels within range of the receiver. The data are used to monitor, understand and mitigate the impacts of marine shipping activities. It was deployed on a fixed platform.
