Clinical utility of the targeted next-generation sequencing for detection of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and antimicrobial resistance genes for adults

Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and blood specimens from 90 adults patients with CAP were undertaken by tNGS, conventional methods including bacterial culture, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), antigen, antibody, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). The diagnose performance for M. pneumoniae was compared by the tNGS and conventional methods. Clinical manifestations, etiological analyses, antibiotic resistance treatment and coinfection with other respiratory pathogens in the MPP and non-MPP groups were compared for clinical reference.
