The leading upcoming thermal power plants in Canada were located in Alberta, with a total of over 4.5 gigawatts of electricity generation capacity additions planned as of September 2024. They were all natural gas combined cycle facilities, except Suncor Cogeneration Plant.That year, the largest operational thermal power plants in Canada were located in Ontario.
