As part of a study to investigate the effect of natural seepage on deep-sea corals, the metagenomes of the octocoral, Callogorgia delta, and the surrounding sediment were sequenced. At sites within lease blocks MC751 and MC885, Callogorgia delta colonies can be found growing near visual signs of active seepage. Colonies were collected on 2015-05-02, 2016-10-01, 2016-09-29, 2017-06-06, and 2017-06-18 growing near or far from signs of seepage. Sediment samples were collected near corals with push cores. The metagenomes were sequenced to investigate the effects of natural seepage on the composition of the microbial communities associated with corals and sediment and to determine any changes in metabolic capabilities in these microbial communities.
本研究旨在探究自然渗漏对深海珊瑚的影响,对八放珊瑚(octocoral)德尔塔柳珊瑚(Callogorgia delta)及其周边沉积物的宏基因组(metagenome)开展了测序工作。
