The Impact of EcoHouse: A comparison between 1128 and 1130 East St.

This study examines the progress of EcoHouse, located at 1130 East St. in Grinnell and established at the beginning of Grinnell College fiscal year 2009 (summer 2008), towards its goal of reducing energy consumption over previous years. Data from fiscal years 2005 to 2009 is used to make comparisons about energy consumption at 1130 East before and after its establishment as EcoHouse, and this data is also compared against analagous data from Pine Tree House, another college-owned project house next door at 1128 East. Meta-data regarding cotemporaneous efficiency-related projects at EcoHouse, among other circumstances, is presented in the analysis. Given the data from fiscal years 2005-2009, it is estimated that EcoHouse has reduced its monthly electricity consumption by 2.5%, and monthly natural gas consumption by 56.3%.
