The LC-MS analysis showed spatial differences in metabolite profiles of fronds, stems, and roots of Selaginella bryopteris. The estimation of phenolic and flavonoid contents in these tissues showed the highest amount of total phenolic (197.32 mg catechol equivalent g−1 of extract) and flavonoid (466.45 mg rutin equivalent g−1 of extract) contents in methanolic extract of fronds. Also, the high antioxidant potential was found in methanolic extract of fronds on the basis of DPPH scavenging activity, FRAP, CUPRAC, and SO scavenging activity. The antioxidant properties were correlated with spatial accumulation of metabolites (total phenolics and flavonoids) in the respective tissues of S. bryopteris.
