Coccolithophore content of plankton samples in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico

Plankton samples from 6 stations taken during the Meteor cruise M67/2 in March 2006 were analyzed for their coccolithophore content. Using a scanning electron microscope, a total of 39 species were observed, with only eight species making a significant contribution to the species community, and a clear vertical stratification in the coccolithophores was observed.

2006年3月，针对流星号（Meteor）科考航次M67/2期间采集的6个站位浮游生物样本的颗石藻（coccolithophore）组分开展了分析。借助扫描电子显微镜（scanning electron microscope），本次分析共观测到39个颗石藻物种，其中仅8个物种对群落物种组成具有显著贡献，同时发现颗石藻群落存在清晰的垂直分层特征。
