This series consist of records relating to the Homebush Abattoir and Metropolitan Meat Board that came into the custody of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) when they took over the area previously used as Homebush Abattoir to develop Sydney Olympic Park.The series includes a variety of records including, employment files, employee registration and leave cards, housing fund records that record the rent paid by abattoir employees, WWII military leave records, a rent register which records the rent of paddocks and office space owned by the Abattoir and correspondence relating to land sales. In addition to this, the series also includes a selection of films relating to the meat industry some of which were produced by the Metropolitan Meat Board and filmed at Homebush Bay. Others are instructional films that may have been used by the Abattoir for training purposes.While in the custody of the SOPA the paper records have been top numbered using the prefix AB followed by the year they registered in their records management system followed by a running number. The films were registered by Olympic Coordination Authority (a predeceeding agency of SOPA)using an alphanumeric number beginning TAQ.
