In this project, we sequenced the 16S rRNA gene from DNA extracted from streambed sediments upstream, within, and downstream of a facility disposing of wastewater from unconventional oil and gas development via a Class II Underground Injection Control well. Differences in the microbial communities upstream and downstream of the site were observed.
