Phytosanitary status of the forest masses of Spanish national parks

It contains information on defoliation and average discoloration of trees from the 234 plots (points) of the Network for monitoring the phytosanitary status of forest masses in national parks. The project began in 1986 in some national parks, and since then examines the health of the forests of these natural areas through sampling points, the monitoring of established routes that run through the forest masses as a whole, and the assessment and evolution of specific phytosanitary problems. It is carried out in the 13 national parks with relevant forest masses (all but Timanfaya and the Daimiel Tables). This inventory is based on a denser network than that of level I existing at European and national level, formed approximately by grids of 4 x 4 km, at whose intersection the observation points are constituted, each of which of 24 type trees, observing the same individuals each year, in field visits that take place in summer-autumn. The initiative is integrated into the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan of the National Parks Network.
