Advice maps for seismic and electromagnetic investigations

The Institute of Marine Research (HI) issues official advice to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate on seismic and electromagnetic surveys in areas and periods of concentrated spawning/gid migration for fish or grazing for whales. In the NPD’s reporting system for geophysical surveys, the advice is defined in maps with different areas and time periods. They can be divided into the following: — Seismic discouragement of core areas, where all seismic surveys are discouraged during the period. — Buffer zone of 5 nautical miles around the “Seismic Recommendation Core Area”. Seismic surveys with smaller sources, e.g. drilling site surveys, are discouraged within this period. — Buffer zone of 20 nautical miles around the “Seismic Recommendation Core Area”. Seismic surveys with full-scale compressed air sources are discouraged within this, but smaller surveys (e.g. drilling site surveys) are permitted. — Areas where electromagnetic investigations are discouraged (no buffer) — Coral maps, where advice is given after further assessment in relevant areas. — Areas where the use of an observer for marine mammals (Marine Mammal Observer; MMO) is recommended in connection with seismic surveys.挪威海洋研究所（Institute of Marine Research, HI）会就鱼类集中产卵与洄游或鲸鱼觅食的区域与时段，向挪威石油管理局（Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, NPD）出具官方勘探建议。 在挪威石油管理局的地球物理勘探报告系统中，该类建议通过划分不同区域与时段的地图予以明确，具体可分为以下类别： —— 核心区域地震勘探禁令区：该时段内所有地震勘探活动均被禁止。 —— “地震勘探建议核心区（Seismic Recommendation Core Area）”周边5海里缓冲带：该时段内，采用小型震源的地震勘探（如钻井场地勘探）均被禁止。 —— “地震勘探建议核心区（Seismic Recommendation Core Area）”周边20海里缓冲带：该时段内，采用全尺寸压缩空气震源的地震勘探均被禁止，但小型勘探活动（如钻井场地勘探）不受限制。 —— 电磁勘探禁令区：无缓冲带设置，该区域内电磁勘探活动均被禁止。 —— 珊瑚保护区地图：针对相关区域需经进一步评估后出具专属勘探建议。 —— 海洋哺乳动物观察员（Marine Mammal Observer, MMO）配备建议区：开展地震勘探时，推荐配备海洋哺乳动物观察员。
