With increased interest in emerging pathogens of nonmammlian wildlife, there is a need to develop new cell lines from these hosts to assist in identification and isolation of novel viruses and bacteria. Because of the potential for cell line contamination with Mycoplasma spp. that maybe associated with nonmammalian hosts, it is critical that cell lines be screened for these potential agents. The Mycoplasma isolate here is a new species that ws cutured fron the cell line derived from a corn snake as part of an effort to develop reptilian cell lines for the scientific community.
