Validated Bongo (U4) dip data from the St Helena Bay Monitoring Line (SHBML) on the Africana Voyage 269, January 2011

Validated dip files for vertical hauls of the bongo net using the U4 system along the St Helena Bay Monitoring Line (SHBML) (now under the Integrated Ecosystem Programme: Southern Benguela) on the Africana, Voyage 269, from 11 to 13 January 2011. The St Helena Bay Monitoring Line was initiated as a BENEFIT-driven project on "shipboard monitoring" which linked with similar lines run in Namibia and Angola. The aims are to obtain seasonal and interannual information on the hydrology and productivity of the area. Data on harmful algal blooms, low oxygen water and intrusions of Agulhas Bank water along the west coast are also collected. A long-term, multi-decadel time-series (from 1951 onward) of information already exists for this important region and has continued in the form of the IEP:SB to detect long-term changes in the hydrology and the plankton, which are important for the detection of regime shifts.

本数据集包含2011年1月11日至13日，在科考船"阿非利卡号"（Africana）第269航次中，沿圣赫勒拿湾监测线（St Helena Bay Monitoring Line, SHBML，目前隶属于南部本格拉综合生态系统计划（Integrated Ecosystem Programme: Southern Benguela）），使用U4系统开展邦戈网（Bongo Net）垂直拖网作业所得到的经校验采样文件。圣赫勒拿湾监测线最初是作为由BENEFIT项目主导的"船载监测"项目启动的，该项目与纳米比亚及安哥拉境内的同类监测线实现了协同联动；其核心目标为获取该海域水文状况与生产力的季节及年际变化数据，同时还同步收集西海岸海域有害藻华（harmful algal blooms）、低氧水体以及厄加勒斯滩（Agulhas Bank）水团入侵的相关观测数据。该重要海域自1951年起便已积累了数十年尺度的长期时间序列观测数据，相关监测工作以南部本格拉综合生态系统计划圣赫勒拿湾分支（IEP:SB）的形式持续推进，旨在追踪水文状况与浮游生物的长期变化，而这对于识别生态系统格局转变至关重要。
