Whole-genome sequencing of the primary tumour and multiple metastases of a single colorectal cancer patient.

Using whole genome sequencing of metastatic sites and primary colorectal cancer (CRC) in a patient with an iatrogenic metastasis, we provide the first experimental evidence documenting the timing of synchronous metastases in CRC. We show that genomic instability might be more important than the metastatic potential of the primary cancer in dictating CRC progression.
