As a volume of the "Chinese Palaeobotanical Flora", this monograph compiles nearly 2,000 fossil records of Ginkgoales plants from the Permian to Paleogene Period in China, which were published in over 300 domestic and foreign literatures over the past 150 years (from 1865 to the present). Following detailed examination and verification, systematic sorting and compilation have been carried out for 32 genera, 228 species, as well as a large number of names that could not be accurately identified or classified within these records. Based on variations in fossil morphological traits, preservation conditions and research intensity, these records are categorized into a novel natural and morphological taxonomic framework. Meanwhile, comments are provided on the key issues related to identification, nomenclature and discussion of these records, and corresponding modification and emendation proposals are put forward. This monograph also comprehensively and thoroughly introduces the latest research advances regarding the research history, origin and phylogenetic affinities, phylogeny, classification and evolutionary trends of Ginkgoales plants, as well as their temporal-spatial distribution and rise-fall evolutionary processes throughout geological history. This is a comprehensive and systematic monograph focused on Ginkgoales plants in China, serving as an essential academic literature for relevant research.
