This dataset is the complete feeding experiment cell count data behind the publication Djeghri et al.2018 Progress in Oceanography 165, 63-74 https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pocean.2018.04.013. The publication fully describes all the details of the sampling and experiments, including sampling dates for each of the experiments. In brief, the data are based on water and copepods collected from Plymouth E1 monitoring site in the Western English Channel over a seasonal cycle spanning 2014 and 2015. In total 11 experiments were run, and adult females of six species were incubated; Oithona similis, Acartia clausi, Pseudocalanus elongatus, Centropages typicus, Calanus helgolandicus, and C. finmarchicus, as well as Calanus spp. CV. The rows in the spreadsheet reflect individual experimental bottles and the columns reflect the different categories and sizes of cells that were counted (these are the uneaten food items). The numbers reflect the total numbers counted in the subsamples that were enumerated (the volumes of these subsamples are listed in a separate column of the spreadsheet).
