NRS-15082 | Well completion reports (WCR)

Well Completion reports contain information about exploration wells sunk to ascertain an area’s petroleum, coal and gas reserves. The core sample obtained from the well provides geological information about the earth’s substructure. A detailed graphic log from the core is obtained for the entire depth of the well providing geological information such as rock type, structure, lithology code, grain size, and relevant comments. A core log can be metres long. Reports may provide details such as well name; petroleum title; title holder; name of company undertaking the drilling; district where well is located; longitude and latitude coordinates for the well; elevation above sea level; depth of well; well status, for example plugged and abandoned; and a description of what occurred during drilling.Reports may also contain water and gas analysis, results of sample analysis including chemical testing, raw data print-outs; time-depth data, geological information about the region; maps showing structure contours; location maps; correspondence, conclusions and recommendations, and a description or summary of previous investigations of the area. Well reports may contain test reports giving well pressure and running time; and time-temperature diagrams showing ground temperature at different depths.Some reports may have a notice inserted into the report to acknowledge a missing document and other reports may be annotated.Well Completion reports are part of the Geological Survey collection, a unique collection of unpublished reports on the results of exploration submitted to the then Department of Mineral Resources by companies and individuals as a consequence of exploration and mining licences being granted. The exploration reports are essential sources of information for explorers, and also add to the understanding of the State's geology, mineral, coal and petroleum resources. If the company is still engaged in mining activity or if mining licences are still active then reports may be confidential and unavailable.Due to the high access rates for the Geological Survey Reports, the then Department of Mineral Resources undertook a copying program making digitised copies available on the Geological Survey (DIGS). Interested parties can view published and unpublished exploration, mining and Departmental reports on-screen and these can be downloaded. The images have been slightly downgraded to minimise download times, however, higher quality images can be ordered from DIGS. Custody History The original reports comprising the Geological Survey collection were transferred from the Department of Mineral Resources to the State Records Authority between 1999 and 2001. A note regarding access to the Well completion reportsThe original reports will not be issued to the public so those interested in accessing them should refer to the Geological Survey (DIGS) website where copies of non-confidential reports are available. The reports are indexed and can be searched by title, author, subject terms, tenement, location, map reference, report number, and report year. In addition to the reports being indexed, the various documents making up the report, such as contents page, text, maps, and photographs, are also indexed and therefore retrievable.

完井报告（Well Completion reports）包含为探明某一区域石油、煤炭及天然气储量而钻探的探井相关信息。从井中获取的岩心样本可提供地球地下结构的地质信息。针对井的全井深可获取岩心详细图形测井曲线，提供岩石类型、构造、岩性代码、粒度及相关注释等地质信息。单条岩心测井曲线长度可达数米。

报告可包含如下详细信息：井名、石油权证、权证持有人、负责钻井的公司名称、井位所在行政区、井的经纬度坐标、海拔高度、井深、井况（例如已封堵废弃），以及钻井过程中发生事件的描述。报告还可包含水与气体分析、包括化学检测在内的样本分析结果、原始数据打印件、时深数据、区域地质信息、显示构造等值线的图件、位置图、往来函件、结论与建议，以及对该区域既往勘查工作的描述或总结。

完井报告还可包含记录井内压力与运行时长的测试报告，以及显示不同深度地温的时温曲线图。部分报告会插入说明缺失文档的通知，部分报告则带有批注。

完井报告属于地质调查馆藏，是由企业与个人因获得勘查与采矿许可，向当时的矿产资源部提交的未出版勘查成果报告的独特馆藏。此类勘查报告是勘探人员的核心信息来源，同时也有助于增进对本州地质、矿产、煤炭及石油资源的认知。若企业仍从事采矿活动，或采矿许可仍处于有效期，则相关报告可能属于机密，无法对外提供。

由于地质调查报告的查阅需求较高，当时的矿产资源部开展了数字化复制项目，将数字化副本上传至地质调查（DIGS）平台。有兴趣的用户可在线查看已出版及未出版的勘查、采矿及部门报告，并可下载这些资料。为缩短下载时间，图像质量已略微下调，但用户可向DIGS订购更高质量的图像。

保管历史
构成地质调查馆藏的原始报告于1999年至2001年间从矿产资源部移交至州档案管理局。

完井报告查阅须知
原始报告不会向公众发放，有兴趣查阅的用户可访问地质调查（DIGS）网站，该网站提供非机密报告的副本。报告已建立索引，可通过标题、作者、主题词、租地单元、位置、地图编号、报告编号及报告年份进行检索。除整体报告建立索引外，构成报告的各类文档（如目录页、正文、图件及照片）也均已建立索引，因此可单独检索。
