Spatiotemporal rainfall pattern classification

Characteristics of heavy rainfall disasters are strongly influenced by the spatiotemporal patterns as well as the amounts of rainfall. For example, the location and intensity of damage within a river basin and the pattern of damage (flooding from rivers, flooding from inland waters, sediment-related disasters, etc.) The data include a source code and sample data for classifying rainfall events based on spatiotemporal rainfall patterns. The classification method, which classifies rainfall events separately in terms of temporal and spatial aspects, can identify representative heavy rainfall patterns with characteristic hydrograph features, such as peak discharge. The classification method can be used to examine the impact of the spatiotemporal distribution of rainfall on the flood hydrologic response and discuss the reduction of the risks associated with heavy rainfall in any catchment.
