BeCoRe Prosopographical Dataset Austrian Monasteries (Göttweig - Lambach - Lilienfeld)

The research project "Between Composition and Reception : the Authority of Medieval Charters – BeCoRe" (2020-2024) aimed at a comparative study of the textual and graphical signs of authority and validity in late medieval charters in France and Austria, based on the resources given by Monasterium (http://Monasterium.net). It allowed for the serializing and comparative studying of the marks of authority, along several lines of research: the signs of authority and their nature, the circulation of models, and the relationships between graphical and textual signs. On the Austrian part of the project, the focus was laid on the monasteries of Göttweig, Lambach and Lilienfeld and the late-medieval charters preserved in their archives. All charters are digitized and fully accessible via the virtual archive monasterium.net. The focus of the following dataset lies on the issuers of the charters (persons and organization), as they are supposed to be the most influential on the production of the charter. The dataset consists of the lists of issuers (and sealers) created during the project.
