Whole-genome sequencing to investigate a novel coat color in an Angus calf

A calf, nearly all white in color, was born to two purebred black Angus parents. As this breed is selected for a black hide and with many individuals homozygous for the dominant black allele of MC1R, whole-genome sequencing was utilized to investigate a possible de novo mutation causative of the observed coat color in this calf.
